Latest Updates from Our Project:
Belmont Hills Mall: 1 <3 the 80s Expansion Pack
about 5 years ago
– Fri, Aug 23, 2019 at 03:27:47 PM
It's been an entire year since the Belmont Hills Mall Kickstarter campaign launched! Your support of this project has helped me advance my skills as an artist and designer, and so much more! I owe so much to you wonderful folks, and I have worked hard to deliver as much support and add-ons to the original project as time allowed while expanding into the Midnight City project and beyond!
While my hope is to some day expand into all the stretch goal levels and add even more to the original mall project, I have taken all of my backer requests and have created a new expansion in commemoration of the original campaign.
In addition to seven new 80s retail store fronts, the expansion will also include interior store items including shelving units, items, and cash register areas, as well as store displays.
For anyone who upgrades with this expansion, even more surprises are in store with two new items included for free with the purchase. These are not historically accurate pieces, but were made by special request by fans, and will be an added bonus for those who are interested.
A new mega sized mall entrance and an ice cream parlor!
For tables, booths and other kitchen items for this food court option, please download the free interior terrain pack on Thingiverse! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3193545
This bonus pack is available today, but will remain on the Backerkit store for an extended period of time!
Thank you all for your support! I couldn't have done any of this without you, and I hope you like the expansion. As with the original campaign, I am always available for questions, comments and concerns. I will do my very best to provide additional support!
Sincerely,
Michael

Hello Backers!
Hope you are all doing well, and enjoying the mall set. As a quick update, I just wanted to announce all "Mall Rat" Pledges should be receiving a download of a blank store front for customization options per backer request. Happy Holidays to all!
Custom Roof Option - Campaign Update Twenty Five
almost 6 years ago
– Tue, Nov 20, 2018 at 06:13:10 PM
Hi Backers!
Hope everyone is having fun with the printing and enjoying the building process! I just wanted to give everyone a quick update as I have sent out a new file for all of the Mall Rat pledges tonight.
Since the start of the campaign, there have been a few requests for customization options for store fronts, and more recently, the main entrance of the mall itself in the comments! The ideas of players exploring and battling the undead through their own local shopping centers is pretty exciting, and one I had in mind myself!
While I can't create an open user customization model feature at the moment, I have sent out a blank version of the "Slim Roof Design" to give you something to use until I can sort out more of the details!
It should be a single STL delivered via the Backerkit service this evening. It is identical in size to the slim roof included in the Mall Rat pledge, however, without the lettering. You can paint on your own lettering, or even use a printer and some sticker paper to create a decal of your own for the extra realism!
With that said, I am open to creating any 3D printable customized pieces you would like. They'd be a one of a kind model, sent directly to you. If anyone is seeking customized features for the mall, or any other design in general, please email me directly via [email protected].
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will get back to you as soon as I can! Have a wonderful week, survivors! Thank you so much for your support!

All Along the Watchtower - Campaign Update Twenty Four

– Thu, Nov 15, 2018 at 10:32:16 AM
Hello Backers!
We are now just a few hours away from distribution of the entire file sets, and I am super excited! I will be sending everything out around midnight U.S. Eastern Time this evening!
Since I have never used Backerkit before, I am not sure how it all works on the backers side of things, so please message me if you don't get your files after they go out. The Backerkit support team has been wonderful with setup and answering questions, so it should be a quick fix if any issues arise.
Also, I wanted to share this quick print guide I have made for everyone. It might help with a few basic questions when getting started.
News, Future Plans and Early Bird Specials for all Backers!
There are plenty more pieces I want to create for the mall, as well as new things I have been experimenting with, so I wanted to give everyone a quick update on how you can stay in touch with me, and see some new, exciting things down the road.
At the recommendation of several backers throughout the project, I now have a very basic website made, as well as several social media pages. Anyone can visit my personal website now at www.archangeldesign3d.com. In order to get the word out, I will also be dropping a free terrain sculpt on my Thingiverse account before the end of the month.
Information on this release will be available exclusively through my Facebook page, so please give me a follow! My ultimate goal for the future is to expand my knowledge of 3D modeling to create even more detailed and higher quality pieces.
There are many things I had to learn to bring the mall into reality, and I want to push myself beyond my comfort zone of traditional modern architecture, and really try to create some new and exciting things for everyone! For any mall additions, I will also keep you posted through these Kickstarter updates down the road, on my website and on Facebook.
Thank you so much for your support, your advice, your patience, and your kind words through it all!
The files will go out tonight, survivors! If you have any trouble, with absolutely anything, regarding distribution, Backerkit services, or just have some general printing questions you need answered, please contact me via direct message, email, or through the comments, and I will respond as soon as I can.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and fun printing!
